RAISING MONEY TO SEND KIDS WITH HEART CONDITIONS TO A SPECIAL CAMP WHERE THEY CAN THRIVE!
Everyone longs to feel normal—to have a sense of belonging, to be part of a community, to share experiences and participate in the same activities as others. But for the 40,000 children born each year with heart conditions, finding others who understand the challenges of frequent tests, risky procedures, and even multiple open-heart surgeries can be incredibly difficult. For their families, the struggle is twofold: ensuring their loved one is safe and cared for while witnessing the emotional and physical toll of being different.
Camp Bon Coeur provides children with Congenital Heart Defects the chance to experience a traditional summer camp. These are kids who might not have had the same opportunities as their peers due to their health needs. At Camp Bon Coeur, they can participate in a one week summer camp program designed specifically with their cardiac needs in mind. Here, campers aged 7-16 from across the country come together, united by the shared experience of living with a heart defect, to enjoy the best summer of their lives. These campers bond over their diagnosis along with other life experiences as well. Campers become lifelong friends and most attend camp every summer until they age out. Attending Camp Bon Coeur is truly a unique and special place for these kids. It allows them to feel normal amongst their peers. Camp Bon Coeur is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies entirely on monetary and in-kind donations and services to operate its camp.
